Coding school recognised for addressing UK digital skills gap
Code Institute, an internationally recognised online learning platform, was rated “outstanding” for its provision of digital skills education by the UK’s official education standards body.
Achieving top marks across all inspection areas in its first Ofsted inspection, the platform was awarded the highest rating, which is only earned by 8% of independent training providers.
Code Institute CEO Jim Cassidy said the rating marked a “significant milestone” for the company and was a shared victory for the team, learners and partners.
“It validates our ongoing commitment to bridging the digital skills gap and providing an environment that truly supports and propels our learners towards success,” he added.
The recognition comes as the UK government accelerates efforts to equip workers with skills such as AI, software development and data literacy.

In January 2025, the government published its AI action plan, vowing to “turbocharge” growth and expand the UK’s compute capacity by 20 times in the next five years.
This followed the creation of Skills England, a new body to boost the economic productivity of the UK workforce, with a focus on building technical education.
With a growing network of over 2,000 hiring partners, the Dublin-based company has achieved government recognition in England, Wales, Ireland, Sweden, Germany and Austria.
Last year, the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities warned that European institutions were falling behind on AI, calling for more funding to strengthen research and help “propel” Europe’s leadership in AI.
The Ofsted inspection commended the organisation’s provision of industry-aligned courses, career support and facilitating an active learner community.
Its portfolio includes programs in software development, data analytics, data literacy and applied AI, among others.
